Crowdfunder Spotlight: Ishika & Jaya

Ishika Patel and Jaya Pania are one dynamic duo when it comes to fundraising for Soccer Without Borders. After learning about SWB through friends, the two Virginia-based high school soccer players knew they wanted to support the cause.

“I decided to fundraise for SWB because I play soccer, and I know how much it has impacted my life,” said Jaya. “I wanted to be able to give others, specifically girls, an opportunity to play the game.”

The two set up a crowdfunding page specifically for all Soccer Without Borders’ Girls Programs, supporting global SWB initiatives to get girls in the game. Globally, just 10% of soccer players are female — at SWB, nearly half of our participants are girls.

Crowdfunding has been an ongoing process for Ishika and Jaya and they don’t have any plans to stop. They have done everything from holding bake sales — cookies in exchange for donations to Soccer Without Borders — to an online auction.

“My favorite part about fundraising for SWB is knowing that the money being raised is helping girls get the chance to experience and play soccer,” said Ishika.

Ishika and Jaya are almost halfway to their $6,000 goal! Inspired? Create your own fundraiser today!
